The Colourfulness of 1Malaysia

“1Malaysia” concept becomes Malaysian’s trendy and quite popular, today. In fact, we can see the trend in any circumstance whereby everyone in Malaysia is uttering the word “...1Malaysia...” simultaneously. It seems Malaysia is suited with the word of 1Malaysia due to her uniqueness and colourfulness of multi-religious, multi-racial and multi-ethnic dwellers. I come forward to share several important statements that support “colourfulness of 1Malaysia” in depth. If we open our minds widely and look at other countries around us - they tend to have some problems or issues regarding discrimination, racism, and tribe’s war arose despite they don’t have sufficient races as much as in Malaysia. Harmony and prosperity of Malaysia through the combination of its unity is very emulated by foreign countries. However, some of them are jealous toward the unity in this county, and making false statements and unfounded accusations merely to divide the people of Malaysia who lived in peace and prosperity.

The statement above is based on an issue that raised the so-called 1Malaysia copied or quoted from 1Israel concept. The statement is not true at all. I boldly and confidently say that the concept is genuine and initiated by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato Sri’ Mohd Najib b. Tun Abdul Razak, especially for people in Malaysia.

The Truth

Hereby, I have some views that may support the above statement that may be shared with readers. Let us take a look at the number ONE (1) in the concept of “1Malaysia”. According to mathematical perspective – the number 1 is a number that begins or cannot be divided by any other numbers except, the number itself without any calculation provided. Meanwhile, in philosophy point of view, ONE (1) is associated and indicated with the purpose of - the Best or the Prime. After that, the term of 'Malaysia' indicates the name of a country and may not focus on a race. This is very clear case of one (1) Malaysia; means Malaysia is comprised of multi-racial, multi-ethnic, multi-religious, and multi-cultural. This is when the dwellers were presented in performing a unified infrastructure and harmonious life based on the understanding of ethics and respecting each other and eventually become as ONE (1) community united in line of 1Malaysia. I remember one of my friends had been studying in United State last year which he had felt the application of 1Malaysia concept at overseas. Whereby his lecturer asked, "Malaysian, please raise your hands up..." the unexpected answer is, the whole Malaysian students who are in the lecture halls whether Malays, Chinese, Indian and others raise their hands. 

This proves that Malaysia is the union of all races and becomes attractive and surprise to the foreign countries which still have not been able to unite the people of their own. This became a symbol of colourfulness of 1Malaysia. It is also very obvious that Malaysia is a country and would be former world number one country that managed to unite people from different backgrounds. This statement is very clearly stated that the concept is suitable to use in Malaysia compared to other countries such Israel. Thus, the statement of the Prime Minister regarding 1Malaysia concept on is justified and appropriate for the country as a symbol of Malaysia in the eyes of the world and impressively, slogan of "People First, Performance Now" is a trigger of the brilliant concept.

Additionally, 1 Malaysia should be maintained and always be grabbed tightly, and the National Principles would be our very best pillars and guidance to safeguard the people in Malaysia towards a developed nation, successful and harmonious and creating excellent and ideal prospects. Malaysia community visibly goodwill everywhere, showing the Malays, Chinese, Indian and others - gathering, working, laughing, talking, discussing and playing as a family that cannot be divided into pieces. The goodwill of Malaysians was created perfectly since the earlier generation; we can see it until now. Although there are negative elements which seemly are not happy to see this harmony, however, it can be resisted and rejected by the 1Malaysia community.

Consistent with that, the younger generation has always been exposed to the formation of the values ​​of solidarity. For instance, the National Service Training Programme (PLKN), which helping and guiding them to be a productive generation in order to create the goodwill of the community. Applying the values ​​of patriotism is also important for the community in order to nature and nurture of love and enables them to protect and conserve Malaysia to be more peaceful and prosperous.

With the implementation of this patriotic values ​​as well, people will always survive from any bad element that may damages the harmony of the country. With the existence of a harmonious society, the country will always performs productive and consistent to become a developed country in 2020. With this, a lot of programmes provided by the government will be easy to participate and indirectly, the development will be robust and secured through New Economic Model (NEM) concept which is benefits to the people in Malaysia especially in the economic aspect.

The Malaysia history proves that Malaysia's success is based on the cooperation of all various religions, races, ethnics and cultures. The history must be applied to the new generations as their guidance and reminder on how Malaysia achieved its independence until all of the pleasures can be felt till today.

That is how the colourfulness of 1Malaysia always shines like a rainbow, and the national Pholosophy is the core of success and it will not be recoverable if the destruction of harmony is found in the future.

Let us together nurture the spirit of unity and live in a peaceful, harmonious and prosperous that will produce excellent, quality, secure and ideal prospects to become admired and respected country throughout the world.

When we talk about prospects in Malaysia, we know that the country has its valuable and excellent prospects in different views either existed or will progress prospects. In general, prospect means something that has a valuable in future time or conversely the possibilities and chances towards something good outcome. These prospects lead to an important issue for Malaysians to discover their own prospects for more productively. Then, these excellent prospects will automatically bringing Malaysia to be powerful as developed country later. 

Malaysia is strategically located in the heart of South-East Asia - one of the world's fastest growing regions. Situated between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea, and at the southernmost tip of the Asian Continent, this dynamic young nation is well serviced by all major air and shipping lines. Easy access to the rest of the world has today made Malaysia an attractive centre for trade, investment and tourism.

Malaysia covers an area of about 330,252 square kilometers, consisting of states in Peninsular Malaysia, namely Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya; Sabah and Sarawak on the island of Borneo and the Federal Territory of Labuan off Sabah.

Impressively, Malaysia is known as a ‘blessed country’ whereby they are no such things about natural disaster i.e., Tsunami, Earthquake, Typhoon, and other harmful disasters occur.  Malaysia is well-known as preserving its millions of Flora and Fauna where the tropical rainforests are containing rare species and wonderful natural places caused millions of people to visit the country. For those drawn to nature, Malaysia has an almost limitless number of options. Hill resorts, national parks, island getaways, sandy beaches and warm tropical waters offer adventure to outdoor enthusiasts all the year round. Malaysia's rainforests are among the oldest in the world and never cease to delight jungle trekkers and nature lovers.

Malaysia is a country where its land is fertile soil enough for plantations which the commodities have been exporting to other countries. With a good climates, it is also influenced Malaysia to plant Palm trees, Rubber trees, Pineapples, Cocoas, Herbs, and other fruits plants. As we see, in the rural areas, even though the areas did not have right development, yet, people there still have chances to generate prospects in depth and using the existing fundamental. Malaysia’s rainforest produces a variety types timbers such as Chengal, Meranti, Jati, Merawan, Keruing, Nyatoh and Mangroves; and these timbers are one of the important element to be used in manufactural or architectural industries. These commodities seem to have excellent prospects’ growth in term of innovation of plantation using correct technologies and skills.

Apart from that, Malaysia claims 12nm (22 kilometres) (14 mi) as its territorial waters. Which including river, lake, and sea either in the Peninsular Malaysia or Sabah and Sarawak. It shows that Malaysia is a land of grace as for citizens to consume wisely for drinks, electricity sources, natural resources such as fisheries, minerals or as in tourism activities. More than that, Malaysia produces petroleum and is a net exporter. Malaysia also produces liquefied natural gas as well as various other related products, most of which are found off the coasts of Terengganu, Sabah, and Sarawak. Natural resources: tin, petroleum, timber, copper, iron, ore, natural gas, bauxite

Malaysia was the largest exporter of tin until the industry wide collapse in 1980s. Tin deposit is found in Selangor, Kinta valley in Perak, Pahang and Johor. There are significant deposit of gold in Pahang towns of Raub and Kuala Lipis and also Kelantan's district of Gua Musang.

In this context, Malaysia’s agriculture and aquaculture has potential to generate income, indirectly, many valuable prospects will be produced. The Malaysia’s fresh water is an aggressive aquaculture business which is the largest fresh water decoration fish (Arowana) exporters in the world. Malaysia produces a high quality Arowana that never be found in other country. These Arowana fishes are breeding with the natural fresh water lake in Malaysia and can be found in Perak, Selangor and Johore. Apart of fresh water fisheries, the marine fish is also well known as Malaysia’s most popular in producing a various types of seafood. More than that, Malaysia are appreciated by its creator with the most valuable natural resources - petroleum. This natural gas had lead Malaysia to become one of the top oil and gas exporter in the world.

The People

Malaysia's cosmopolitan population, estimated at 28.1 million in the year 2009 is a unique mix of some of the world's oldest civilisations - the Malay, Chinese and Indian civilisations. This has blessed the nation with a rich cultural heritage and has made Malaysia an outstanding example of a harmonious, multi-religion, multi-racial society.

In Peninsular Malaysia, the main ethnic groups are the Malays, Chinese and Indians. And For Sabah and Sarawak, Kadazans and Ibans form the largest ethnic groups respectively.

Islam in the official religion, while Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikh, and other religions remain as widely practised in the country.

Although Bahasa Malaysia is the national language, English is widely used in commerce and industry. Other major languages spoken include various Chinese dialects and Tamil.

In this context, Malaysians citizens which from multiethnic, multicultural, and multireligion have given full contribution in developing the country to be excellent. The colourful of cultural heritage always seem a good exposure of recognizing Malaysia. Due to the multiple of ethnics and races, Malaysians always share cultures, foods, way of living and festivals including Eid Fitri, Eid Adha, Deepavali, Chinese New Year, and Christmas. Amazingly, even though Malaysians seem to have different ideology, belief, and understanding, yet, these festivals let them all Malaysians to celebrate together for each of the festival.

In the coming decade, an important policy component in Malaysia's development plans  will be to enhance the knowledge content of the economy to increase production capacity in all sectors. The next 10 years will see human resource enhancement and intensive research and technology development that will transform Malaysia into a knowledge-based economy.

Malaysia offers very comfortable living conditions. The country’s cultural heritage is truly varied and very open towards foreign cultures, making Malaysia among the most delightful and hospitable places in the world to work and live in.
